Jonatan Lerga, PhD

University of Rijeka, Faculty of Engineering

Jonatan Lerga, D.Sc., is a researcher in digital signal processing, information processing, and machine learning. He participated and led several research projects, funded by local, national and European funding sources, as well as co-authored a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals and on scientific conferences. He is holding the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Engineering (RITEH), and is presently Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at the RITEH, as well as Head of the Center. He received several awards for his work, such as awards from the Croatian Academy of Engineering (2012), City of Rijeka (2015), Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (2018), and University of Rijeka Foundation (2008, 2010, 2018). He is also a member of the Workgroup for preparing the National Plan for Development of Artificial Intelligence (Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Croatia). Besides, he is the Local Coordinator of CEEPUS network “International Cooperation in Computer Science“, Vice-President of the Alumni Club of the Faculty of Engineering, as well as Lead Guest Editor of EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, and Associate Editor of the Engineering Review journal. He reviewed over 100 papers for international journals. He is teaching Information Theory and Coding, Digital Image Processing, Applied Computing, Digital Logics, and Computer Software in Engineering at the RITEH.
