Renato Filjar
Krapina University of Applied Sciences, Krapina, Croatia
Renato Filjar is a Professor of Electronics Engineering, Tenure, at Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia and Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia, and a Professor and Chair of Laboratory for Spatial Intelligence at Krapina University of Applied Sciences, Krapina, Croatia. He holds BSc (1987), MSc (1994), and PhD (2007) degrees in electrical engineering, respectively, from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. His research interests include: 1. Environment-adaptive GNSS position estimation, 2. Spatio-temporal statistics, statistical learning and prediction modelling, 3. Trajectory analysis and estimation, 4. Statistical tests, 5. Spatial and sensor information fusion, 6. Nature-inspired navigation methods. The R environment for statistical computing is his common statistical analysis, predictive model development and the prime research computing platform. Prof Filjar is a Fellow of The Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN), London, UK, a Member of The Institute of Navigation (US), a Senior Member of Union Radio-Scientifique Internationale, Ghent Belgium, and a Member of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Phladelphia, PA. He founded the Baška GNSS Conference, and the Baška SIF (Spatial Intelligence Forum) series, both held annually in Baška, Krk Island, Croatia. Prof Filjar received the RIN J E D Williams (Silver) Medal for his contribution of space weather and ionospheric effects on GNSS positioning performance, and for raising the public awareness of satellite navigation.
